The late-night prayer until the call to the dawn prayer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of fatwa number ( 18638 )
Q2: Many mosques in the month of Ramadan organize the late-night prayer in congregation, and this is between the two calls to the dawn prayer, which necessitates that we bring forward the pre-dawn meal in order to catch the prayer. Is this in accordance with the Sunnah, and is this prayer that we perform in congregation between the two calls considered a religious innovation?
A2: The late-night prayer in Ramadan is a good deed, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to keep his night awake in the last ten nights of Ramadan, singling them out with what he did not single out other nights for. However, it is prescribed for the imam to finish the late-night prayer before the dawn by a time sufficient to eat the pre-dawn meal; because the Sunnah is to delay the pre-dawn meal, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
used to do, and so did the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
