The Adhan for Fajr
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The sixth question of Fatwa No. ( 19446 )
Q 6: In a mosque where only one adhan is called for Fajr, is there any harm in adding the phrase "Prayer is better than sleep" to this adhan?
A 6: It is the Sunnah (recommended practice) for Fajr to have two adhans: one before the true dawn appears to announce the approach of the time, and one after the true dawn
appears, in which the mu'adhdhin (the one who calls to prayer) adds the phrase "Prayer is better than sleep" twice after the two "Hayya 'ala al-falah" (come to success) phrases. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
