The Time of the Witr Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 18591 )
Q3: I pray the witr prayer together with the 'Isha' prayer for fear that I will fall asleep and leave it. Is it valid for me to perform the tahajjud prayer in the last third of the night? How many rak'ahs are there in the duha prayer? I want you to inform me when the last third of the night begins and when it ends, specifying the time in hours?
A3: The time for the witr prayer is between the 'Isha' prayer and the dawn. Praying it at the end of the night is better for one who is confident that he will get up, but if one prays it at the beginning of the night and then gets up at the end of the night, he prays as much as he wishes and does not pray witr a second time, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
There are no two Witr in one night.لا وتران في ليلة
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 470Sahih (Darussalam)
The duha prayer is prescribed, and its minimum is two rak'ahs. If he prays more than that, he receives the reward for it. The best prayer at night is eleven rak'ahs, with taslim after every two rak'ahs, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Prayer during the night should consist of pairs of rak'ahs, but if one of you fears the morning is near he should pray one rak'ah which will make his prayer an odd number for him.صلاة الليل مثنى مثنى فإذا خشي أحدكم الصبح صلى ركعة واحدة توتر له ما قد صلى
Sunan Abi Dawud 1326Sahih (Al-Albani)
It is agreed upon that it is authentic. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
