What is the last time for the witr prayer?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you. A questioner asks: O Shaykh, what is the last time for the witr prayer?

The Shaykh : Yes, the last time for the witr prayer is the appearance of the dawn, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family):
if anyone is afraid of the approaching dawn (Fajr prayer) he should pray one Rak`ah and this will be a Witr for all the Rak`at which he has prayed before. إذا خشي أحدكم الصبح صلى واحدة فأوترت له ما قد صلى
Sahih al-Bukhari 990
So if the dawn appears before a person has performed his witr, he must make up his witr during the day, but in pairs. This means that if he usually performs witr with three rak'ahs, he should make up four; if it is his habit to perform witr with five, he should make up six, and so on, based on the hadith of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her):
That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) used to pray twelve rak'ahs during the day if sleep or pain overtook him at night. أن النبي صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم كان إذا غلبه في الليل نوم أو وجع صلى من النهار ثنتي عشرة ركعة
