Supplication after the closing salam of the prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourteenth question from fatwa number ( 18762 )
Q 14: There are people who, when they perform the sunnah and say the closing salam from the sunnah, raise their hands to ask Allah. And there is a learned man who says: Do not supplicate after the salam; supplicate before you say the salam. I have seen him after the Friday prayer; when he sits for the tashahhud, he raises his hands and supplicates before saying the salam. And when he says the salam, he walks and stands up without supplicating. Please inform us about that? Because I have not seen that except from this person?
A 14 : There is no harm in supplicating after the salam of the prayer and after finishing the dhikr, because some hadiths indicate that. However, one should not raise his hands after the obligatory prayer, and there is no harm in doing so after the voluntary prayer. Undoubtedly, supplicating before the salam is better than supplicating after it. But it is not permissible to raise the hands before the salam when supplicating; because it is a religious innovation, and one should strongly disapprove of whoever does that; due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected.من عمل عملاً ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718b
. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
