Did it come from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he used to raise his hands in supplication after the obligatory prayer?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Did it come from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he used to raise his hands in supplication after the obligatory prayer?

The Shaykh : It did not come from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he used to raise his hands for supplication after the obligatory prayer, nor after the voluntary prayer either. Rather, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) guided his Ummah to make their supplication before the taslim. In the hadith of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught him the tashahhud, he said:
Then let him choose whatever he wishes from supplication. ثم ليتخير من الدعاء ما شاء
Sahih Ibn Hibban 10:238
So whoever wishes to supplicate to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), let him supplicate to Allah before he says the taslim, because he is in a state of addressing Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and because he hits the place to which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) guided. For this reason, delaying the supplication until after the taslim is contrary to what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) guided to, and to what correct reasoning necessitates. Correct reasoning necessitates that the supplication be made while addressing Allah (Mighty and Majestic), before a person says the taslim from his prayer and turns away from it. And this is more appropriate than delaying the supplication until after his addressing of Allah and his turning away from his prayer. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
