The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 15420 )
Q 5: Is it permissible for the imam of the praying congregation to say: Peace be upon you
and the mercy of Allah and His blessings, or is it sufficient for him to say only: Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah, after he has finished the prayer?
A 5 : What is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the majority of narrations regarding the salam in prayer is to restrict oneself to saying: (Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah), and this is the best and the most cautious course. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
