The Form of Sending Blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : How is the sending of blessings upon the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) after the adhan? Is "O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad" sufficient, or must one recite the full text?

The Shaykh : The best is to recite the full text, but it is permissible to shorten it.

The questioner : Do we believe in the qunut behind the imam?

The Shaykh : The previous lesson is sufficient, my brother.

The questioner : Our Shaykh, regarding the issue of sending blessings upon the Prophet, one of our brothers among the listeners was puzzled by your previous statement when you say: "peace be upon him." He asks: Is saying "peace be upon him" sufficient for the sending of blessings upon the Prophet? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Similar to 644 except it has "Shame on" rather than "Wretched is;" رغم أنف امرئ ذكرت عنده فلم يصل علي
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 646
So what is the answer?

The Shaykh : The answer is that if the one who says "peace be upon him" does so every time the Messenger (peace be upon him) is mentioned, he has not fulfilled the obligatory. However, if he says it occasionally, there is no harm in that. Because if he did not say it, and he mentioned the Messenger (peace be upon him) ten times in one gathering and sent blessings upon him only once, and then did not return to sending blessings upon him or saying peace upon him, he is not sinful. Because it is not obligatory for him in one gathering to send blessings upon the Prophet every time he is mentioned, unless the gatherings are multiple.

The questioner : O Shaykh, the stingy one who is mentioned in the hadith, does he have a place in this discussion?

The Shaykh : I have mentioned it: the one who is mentioned in his presence and does not send blessings upon me, in one gathering.
