Question:
What has been reported regarding the virtue of sending blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? And what are the best formulas reported in this regard, Your Eminence?
Answer:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recommended sending blessings upon him, just as Allah recommended it. Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) said: [Al-Ahzab: 56]. They said: "O Messenger of Allah, how do we send blessings upon you?" He said: Mishkat al-Masabih 919 This is the most complete formula that has come regarding the description of sending blessings and peace upon him. Sahih al-Bukhari 3370
Another description came in the hadith of Abu Humaid al-Sa'idi, in al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) and others:Sahih Muslim 407.
Another description came from the hadith of Abu Mas'ud al-Badri, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he said: When they asked him how to send blessings upon him, he said:Sunan an-Nasa'i 1285Sahih (Darussalam) And the salam as we were taught: Sunan an-Nasa'i 1171Sahih (Darussalam) As it came in the hadith of Ibn Mas'ud and others, in the description of the salam: Sunan an-Nasa'i 1171Sahih (Darussalam) This is the salam upon him: Sunan an-Nasa'i 1171Sahih (Darussalam).
It is prescribed for the believer to send blessings upon him with this formula that came from him (peace and blessings be upon him), in the prayer and outside of it, in the prayer and outside of it, yes.
The presenter: Adding (and his companions), Your Eminence?
The Shaykh:Sunan an-Nasa'i 1292Hasan (Darussalam) This is how it came in the hadith of Ka'b ibn Ujrah, and in the hadith of Abu Humaid, it says: And in the hadith of Abu Mas'ud. The intended meaning of "his family" (al) is his household, and all the Companions are his family, included in the "family." The wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), his descendants, and his Companions are all included in the "family," as the Exalted said: [Ghafir: 46], meaning: the followers of Pharaoh.
So the intended meaning of:Sunan an-Nasa'i 1292Hasan (Darussalam) is: his Companions, his wives, and his descendants; all of them are included in the "family": the wives, the descendants, the followers, and the Companions, all of them are included.
And if the "family" is intended to mean the wives specifically, excluding the Companions, then if one mentions the Companions for clarification, it is good: "O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon his family and his Companions"; this is by way of clarification. Otherwise, the Companions are included in the "family," so the "family" encompasses: the wives, the descendants, and all the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them and grant them satisfaction).
The presenter: (May Allah be pleased with them and grant them satisfaction). May Allah reward you with good, and may He bless you, Your Eminence.

You are indeed Worthy of praise, Full of glory.)" And the salam is as you know.
