A: Charitable societies should assist donors in determining the areas of their donations. If the society directs donors to the following areas: 1. Donating to feed fasting people in mosques. 2. Donating to feed needy families. 3. Donating to sponsor a needy family in Ramadan. This specification helps those in charge of the society in achieving the desired goals. As for the amounts donated by their owners for the purpose of feeding fasting people, they must be spent in the same area for which they were specified, and it is not permissible to spend them in another area, even if it is sponsoring a family; because the donor intended to feed fasting people specifically for the great reward in that, taking from his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 13:854 . It was narrated by al-Tirmidhi, and Ahmad, and al-Bayhaqi, and al-Tabarani, and because spending the donated amount in what it was donated for has not become difficult to the extent that it must be spent in something else.
