Disposing of the money donated for the sake of a mosque

Fatwa number ( 12261 )
Q: We inform you that we, the congregation of the Ibn Majid mosque in the Zahrat al-Badi'ah district, collected a sum of money in two installments from the worshippers after the Friday prayer, with the intention of purchasing air conditioners for the mosque, and the amount reached approximately fifty thousand. However, the amount was insufficient for the purpose, so one of the worshippers undertook to present the matter to His Royal Highness Prince Abdullah ibn Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince (may Allah preserve him), and His Highness agreed to bear all the costs of the project, which amount to
approximately 300,000 riyals. Now, the previous funds that we collected from the worshippers remain with us, and we want to transfer them to the expenses of the mosque facilities, such as purchasing clocks, Quran stands, and curtains to separate the men's entrance from the women's entrance, and so on. The question is: Is it permissible to transfer the remaining amount from its previous purpose to its current purpose, and is the approval of the donors required for this? We note that we are unable to identify them. If the answer is that it is not permissible, how should we dispose of the amount? We ask you to inform us of what you see, and may goodness and blessing be in what Your Eminence sees, if Allah wills.
A: It is obligatory to dispose of the aforementioned money in the same manner for which it was donated, which is purchasing air conditioners for another needy mosque; so that the intention of the donors is realized. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
