The second question of Fatwa number ( 20598 )
Q2: A man prayed the Fajr prayer in congregation in the mosque, and after the prayer ended, he saw a man praying alone. Is it permissible for him to pray with him as a favor to him after he has already prayed Fajr, or not?
with him as a charity for him after he prayed Fajr, or not?

A2: It is permissible for one who has prayed Fajr in congregation and then sees a man who missed the prayer in the congregation to pray with him, so that his brother may obtain the reward of praying in congregation. It is a voluntary prayer in his case, even though it is in a time of prohibition, because it is a prayer with a cause. The correct of the two opinions of the scholars is that it is prescribed in the times of prohibition, due to the generality of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
when you pray in your camp then you come to a Masjid with a congregation, then pray with them. That will be a voluntary prayer for you.إذا صليتما في رحالكما ثم أتيتما مسجد جماعة فصليا معهم، فإنها لكما نافلة
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 219Sahih (Darussalam)
, narrated by the Imam Ahmad and the people of the Sunan, and his saying (peace and blessings be upon him) when a man entered the mosque after he had finished his prayer:
Is there any man who may do good with this (man) and pray along with him.ألا رجل يتصدق على هذا فيصلي معه
Sunan Abi Dawud 574Sahih (Al-Albani)
? narrated by Abu Dawud . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
