What is prescribed for those who missed the congregational prayer is that they pray together

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: The questioner A. M. S. from Ma'an in Jordan says: I entered the mosque shortly after the imam's taslim for prayer and found two groups of people making up the prayer, each group in a different part of the mosque. I did not know which one started the prayer first, so what should I do? And with whom should I pray? Is it prescribed for me to inform one of them, or the smaller group, that there is another group making up the prayer? And that it is better for them to break their prayer and pray with that group? Please guide us, may Allah reward you with good.

A: It is prescribed for you to join one of the two groups, and it is better to join the larger one, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
A man's prayer offered with another man is purer than his prayer which he offers alone, and his prayer with two men is purer than his prayer with one and if they are more (in number), it is more beloved to Allahصلاة الرجل مع الرجل أزكي من صلاته وحده، وصلاته مع الرجلين أزكي من صلاته مع الرجل، وما كان أكثر فهو أحب إلى الله
Bulugh al-Maram 2:330
It is prescribed for those who missed the congregational prayer to pray together and not to separate, due to the aforementioned hadith, and because that is the original practice, so it is not permissible to go against it if one is able. And success is from Allah.
