Fatwa number ( 15297 )
Q: If I am in the first row of a large mosque with about
twenty rows of worshippers, and I remember that I am not in a state of ritual purity , then naturally the prayer is invalid for me. In this case, what should I do; should I leave the prayer and cross these rows? Knowing that the mosque has no doors except on the northern side at the far end of the mosque.
A: If the matter is as stated and it is difficult for you to leave the prayer area before the imam’s closing salam, there is no blame on you for remaining in your place until the imam says the salam. Do not follow the imam, then leave, perform the ablution, and pray the midday prayer. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
