The Muslim performs istikhara, but the outcome is contrary to what he sought

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 15130 )
Q1: If a Muslim performs istikhara regarding a matter of religion or worldly affairs, such as seeking istikhara from Allah regarding marriage or applying for a job or any other matter, and he finds in his istikhara that it is good, but then evil, a calamity, or something he dislikes occurs after he has performed istikhara and begun the matter in which he sought istikhara from Allah, what must the Muslim do in this situation?
A1: Istikhara in matters where the outcome is ambiguous for the Muslim is prescribed. It is entrusting one’s affair to Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, and asking Him to
choose for him what is best for him in his religion and his worldly life. However, if a Muslim performs istikhara and the outcome is contrary to what he sought, let him know that this is for a wisdom that Allah intended, and that what was turned away from him, which he desired, is precisely the best for him. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
