The Prayer for Guidance in a Marriage Proposal
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 13610 )
Q2: When a man proposes to me and I know some information about him, should I seek guidance from Allah before seeing him, or should the prayer for guidance be after I see him and he sees me? And is the sign of Allah’s success for a servant after the prayer for guidance through a vision in a dream, or what is it? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.
A2: It is permissible for you to seek guidance from Allah before seeing the suitor and after seeing him. The sign of the prayer for guidance in completing the matter for which you sought guidance, or leaving it, is that a person finds acceptance and expansion in his heart for this matter, feeling that it is good. If he finds constriction and aversion in his heart toward that matter, it is a sign that there is evil in it, and the person should leave it for someone else. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
