Acting After the Prayer of Istikharah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: How does a person know, if he seeks Allah’s choice (Mighty and Majestic) and prays the prayer of istikharah, that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has chosen this matter for him, or that He has not chosen it?
The Shaykh: If a person hesitates about whether to do something or not, it is prescribed for him to seek Allah’s choice (Mighty and Majestic). He prays two rak'ahs, and when he concludes the prayer with the taslim, he supplicates with the well-known du'a' of istikharah. Then, if he feels inclined toward one of the options, that is a sign that Allah has chosen that for him. If he does not feel inclined and remains hesitant, he repeats the istikharah once after another, then seeks counsel, and then proceeds with what he proceeds with. And if he proceeds with what he has decided, with his sincerity in supplication and his trust in his Lord (Mighty and Majestic), then we know that what has been decreed for him and what he has proceeded with is the good.
