The Distracted One: Does He Repeat the Recitation?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 15917 )
Q 1: What does one do if he does not grasp what he is saying in his prayer? Does he repeat the recitation?
A 1: The obligatory recitation in prayer, without which the prayer is not valid, is the recitation of Surat al-Fatihah. Anything added to it is a recommended practice (sunnah). If one doubts his recitation of al-Fatihah while in prayer, he should repeat it, unless the doubt becomes excessive, in which case it becomes waswas (whispers of Satan) and he should not pay attention to it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
