Doubt regarding ritual impurity after performing ablution
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The eighth question of Fatwa No. ( 18612 )
Q 8: Doubt regarding ablution Does it invalidate it? Likewise, if I doubt whether I prayed the midday prayer or not, should I perform it to resolve the doubt, or should I dismiss the doubt and proceed based on what is close to certainty? And if I realize after a period of time that I made a mistake in facing the direction of prayer, am I required to repeat that prayer?
A 8: First: If a person performs ablution and doubts whether he has a state of ritual impurity, the original state is that he is in a state of ablution until he is certain of the impurity, so he proceeds based on the original state and does not pay attention to the doubt. And if he is not in a state of ablution and doubts whether he performed ablution, the original state is that he has not performed ablution until he is certain of it, so he proceeds based on the original state, which is the absence of ablution. The principle of the Shari'ah in this matter is that certainty is not removed by doubt, and that the original state remains as it was until proof is established that removes it. Second: If a person doubts in his prayer whether he prayed it or not, the original state is that he did not pray it until he is certain that he prayed it. Third: If a person does not find anyone to guide him to the direction of prayer, and he is unable to look into the evidence that indicates it, so he exerts his effort and prays, and then it becomes clear to him that he was mistaken in his effort, he does not repeat the prayer, and his prayer is valid, and praise be to Allah. But if he was negligent in asking or looking, and then it becomes clear to him that his effort was mistaken, his prayer is not valid, and he is required to repeat it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
