Q 2: We are employees in a government department in the city of al-Bahah, and for the sake of work, some of us, along with the director, make a tour of approximately 300 km, and the duration of this tour is about a week; in order to cover all the centers of the region during that week. My question: Are we allowed to shorten the prayer and combine prayers in this case, or not? Knowing that in this tour we may pass through a town where one of the members of this tour resides?
A 2: If you leave your workplace with the intention of traveling to a distance of eighty kilometers or more, then you may shorten the prayer; because this is a journey that permits shortening. As for the one who passes through his town where his family is, he may not shorten the prayer while passing through it, even if his family is not there but were moving with him to a place
of work, there is no harm in shortening the prayer if he passes through it; because he has departed from it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
