Questions three, four, five, six, and seven from Fatwa number ( 15562 )
Q 3: When we leave the Kingdom, upon our return, the times for the Maghrib and Isha' prayers enter and then pass while we are on the plane on our way back to the Kingdom. We know that their times have passed, so we do not pray them and leave them until we arrive in Saudi Arabia , because we know that in the Kingdom their times have not yet passed, and we pray them when we arrive in the Kingdom. What is your opinion on this?
A 3: As for the prayer whose time enters and passes while you are in the air in a state of flight, if it is one that can be combined with the one following it, such as Zuhr with Asr, or Maghrib with Isha', then it is delayed and combined with the one following it as a combination of delay in the time of the second prayer, provided that the plane lands before the time of the second prayer passes. Otherwise, the two prayers are prayed on the plane as a combination and shortened, in the time of the first prayer or the time of the second prayer. If the time of the first prayer enters before the flight, then you pray it and the one following it as a combination of advance before boarding. If the prayer whose time enters and passes while you are in flight is like the Fajr prayer, then it is prayed in its time on the plane, and it is not permissible to delay it.
Q 4: If the time for the Zuhr prayer, for example, enters, and then I say to myself:
I will pray it as a combination of delay with Asr, and I am traveling, and then I pray, for example, five minutes before the time of Asr enters, what is the ruling on this? Am I considered to have prayed the two prayers before the time entered, or did I pray it in the time of Zuhr?
A 4: If you combine the two prayers before the time of the first prayer passes, then this combination is considered a combination of advance, and it is permissible in the state of travel in which the prayer is shortened.
Q 5: If we have a trip outside the Kingdom, and we go to the airport, and we pray, for example, Zuhr and Asr as a combination of advance, and then we go to the plane and sit in the plane for a little while, and then we are informed afterwards that the flight was canceled , if we return to our homes and the Asr adhan is called, do we go and pray with the congregation, or have we already prayed?
A 5: If you went to the airport with the intention of traveling and you combined Zuhr and Asr as a combination of advance at the airport, and then the flight was canceled and you returned to your homes, your prayer is valid because the conditions for it are met, and the cancellation of the flight does not affect that.
Q 6: We live in the city of Jeddah , and we used to shorten the prayer and combine it, and then months later one of the shaykhs informed us not to combine or shorten in the airport; because the airport is within the built-up area, so what is required of us: do we have to repeat the prayer that we had already prayed, or what? Knowing that no one knows
how many prayers he prayed. What should be done?
A 6: If it is established that the airport is within the built-up area of the town and you are residents of that town, then it is not permissible for you to shorten the prayer there, because you are not traveling, and whoever among you shortens it must repeat it because his prayer is not valid.
Q 7: Does the fasting of the white days drop in travel or is it necessary to fast other days of the month and the Duha prayer ?
A 7: The Duha prayer and the fasting of the white days are voluntary, they are not obligatory whether in residence or in travel, rather whoever does them gets the reward, and whoever leaves them commits no sin whether in residence or in travel. And success is from Allah, and may Allah have mercy on our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
