Those who die in accidents are washed like others

The first question of Fatwa No. ( 17035 )
Q 1: One of my sons had reached the age of 18, and Allah decreed that he should die. He was with three other people, making him the fourth, and they were riding in a car belonging to one of them, which he had rented from one of the companies. They jumped from the top of a mountain and they all died. When it came time to bury them, their blood began to flow, which made us suspect that the bleeding would not stop. One of the shaykhs came to us at that time and said: Do not wash them as long as the blood is flowing , and perhaps they are martyrs. So we shrouded them as they were, over the clothes that were still on them, and indeed we shrouded them in their clothes without washing them. We do not know whether that is permissible or not? Please issue a ruling on this matter.
A 1: It is obligatory to wash the deceased mentioned above like other Muslim deceased. What was mentioned regarding them having the ruling of martyrs and thus not being washed is incorrect; because the martyr who is not washed is the one who dies in battle in jihad against the disbelievers. However, since that has already happened and they have been prayed over and buried, it is not to be repeated. And upon the one who fell short in this lies seeking forgiveness and repentance for the negligence in this obligatory duty regarding the deceased of the Muslims. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
