Q: What is the ruling on one who leaves the Friday prayer, with evidence from the Qur'an and the Noble Sunnah?
A: The Friday prayer is an individual obligation (fard 'ayn) for every Muslim male who is of age, sane, free, and a resident. Whoever leaves it out of negligence is subject to a great warning. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih Muslim 865. Therefore, it is obligatory for one who does this to repent to Allah and to be diligent in performing the Friday prayer with the Muslims. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
