The second question of Fatwa number ( 19272 )
Q 2: Is it permissible tosay after hearing: (I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah), in the adhan (O Muhammad, you are the delight of my eyes)as it is widely practiced among non-Arabs, and especially among the Indians and Pakistanis?
A 2: This saying is not indicated by any scriptural evidence, so it is an innovation and not permissible. The Sunnah is for the listener to say what the mu'adhdhin says, without adding to it; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sunan an-Nasa'i 678Sahih (Darussalam) It is agreed upon as authentic, except for the mu'adhdhin's saying: (Hayya 'ala al-salah, Hayya 'ala al-falah), for which the listener says: (La hawla wa la quwwata illa bi-Allah);
because this is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in (Sahih Muslim ) from 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
