Fatwa number ( 16268 )
Q: A questioner says: While washing the organ (the penis) of the effect of urination, some of the used water spreads either to the testicles or to other parts of the private area, or this water returns to him from the back of the seat designated for relieving oneself, since in some bathrooms the floor of the aforementioned seat is close enough that it is impossible for the one relieving himself to guard against some of the used water returning to him, especially when using the bidet designated for cleaning. He mentions that he tries to wash what this water touches, and that this is after he read in the books of some schools of jurisprudence which mention the impurity of the water that separates from the place of impurity, but he was afflicted with doubts that he does not thoroughly wash
the place that the used water touches, to the extent that he was afflicted with obsessive doubts, which made him sometimes perform the full ritual bath after cleaning himself. What do you advise him to do? Knowing that this situation may be almost general, due to these bathrooms which have become widespread in homes and at mosques.
A : It is obligatory to guard against impurities and purify oneself from them; because the prayer of a servant who is in a state of impurity while knowing about it is not valid. And what spreads of water when washing the two passages, if it contains any of the impurity, it is obligatory to purify it, otherwise there is nothing wrong with it. The original state is purity and the absence of impurity. And he should be cautious of what brings him obsessive doubts. May Allah guide everyone to His obedience. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
