Fatwa number ( 20615 )
Q: I recently suffered from an allergy, which caused me a type of asthma. I underwent several medical diagnoses with general practitioners and specialists, but no improvement was shown. This led me to travel to the city of Blida near the capital, Algeria, to see a specialist. During the examinations, it became clear that I was suffering from an allergy. The doctor treating me gave me some advice to prevent the allergy from worsening. Among these instructions was: not to perform any ghusl after intercourse or sexual relations, and he advised me to perform tayammum. Therefore, I seek your guidance on the method to be followed and the most correct way to perform tayammum after intercourse . May Allah guide you to what is good.
A : If the situation is as described, such that using water to perform ghusl for janabah and other causes harms you for the entire body, then you should resort to tayammum with pure earth. If water harms you for only part of the body, then you wash the healthy parts and perform tayammum for the rest. The method of tayammum is: you make the intention, then say the name of Allah, and strike the pure earth with your hands, then wipe your face with the palms of your hands and your fingers.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
