The second question of Fatwa No. ( 16356 )
Q2: I spent the night at the house of a friend who serves as the imam of a mosque. He woke me up for the Fajr prayer after the adhan, and the time for the iqamah was approaching, with the people in the mosque waiting for him. However, I was in a state of major ritual impurity, and it was not possible for him to leave me in his house with his wife so that I could take a bath while he went to lead the prayer, due to the prohibition of seclusion with a non-mahram woman. Also, there was not enough time for him to wait for me at his house until I took a bath and we went together. Therefore, I was shy to tell him about my state of major ritual impurity, so I performed tayammum out of his sight and prayed Fajr. Before Dhuhr, I had taken a bath. This happened a few days ago. Is what I did valid? And if it is not valid, what must I do now?
A2: Your Fajr prayer with tayammum while water was available is not valid, and you must repeat the prayer mentioned. Your shyness of your host is not the shyness that is praised in the Shari'ah.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
