The third question of Fatwa No. ( 20374 )
Q 3: If I am holding the Mushaf and reading from it, and then I feel gas in my stomach, should I release it while I am reading and the Mushaf is in my hand, or should I put the Mushaf down and stop reading for that reason?
A 3 : The passage of gas from the anus is a nullifier of the ablution by the consensus of the scholars. So, if the passage of gas overcomes you while you are reading the Qur'an, your
ablution is broken and you are in a state of ritual impurity. It is not permissible for you to continue holding the Mushaf; rather, you should place it in a pure place. It is not lawful for you to touch it until you are in a state of complete ritual purity from both minor and major states of impurity. This is based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Waqi'ah 56:79] And because it is authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: Muwatta Malik 15:1 . You may read the Qur'an from memory without touching the Mushaf if you are not in a state of major ritual impurity; based on what is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): It was narrated by Imam Ahmad in his Musnad, and by Imam al-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud and al-Nasa'i and Ibn Majah . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

لا يمس القرآن إلا طاهرThat nothing prevented him from the Qur'an except major ritual impurity (janabah).
