The Distinction Between the Surahs

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 20414 )
Q 1: Is it true that reading and reciting certain surahs of the Qur'an and reflecting upon them carries a great reward and virtue, and has distinct features compared to other surahs, such as Surah Ya-Sin? What are these virtues?
A 1: The distinction between the verses and surahs of the Noble Qur'an is established in the pure Sunnah, such as the virtue of al-Fatihah, the Verse of the Throne, Surah al-Ikhlas, and others, while holding the belief that all of it is truly the speech of Allah. This distinction is due to the meanings that some surahs and verses contain, which are unique to them, and because the Sunnah also explicitly states this superiority. Therefore, this preference is based on divine revelation and there is no room for independent legal reasoning (ijtihad) in it. As for Surah (Ya-Sin) specifically, we do not know of any authentic hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that singles it out with any specific virtues. And Allah knows best. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
