Naming the Surahs of the Qur'an

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 2376 ):
Q2: Who named the surahs of the Noble Qur'an? Was it the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), or what?
A2: We do not know of any text from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that indicates the naming of all the surahs, but some of them were named by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in some authentic hadiths; such as al-Baqarah and Aal 'Imran. As for the remaining surahs, the most apparent view is that their naming was done by the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
