Walking in slippers or shoes between the graves

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 18666 )
Q: It has become common in our country that after the burial of the deceased, people do not stand around the grave and supplicate for steadfastness for him, as is the Sunnah. Instead, they move away from the grave and supplicate for him. What is the ruling on this phenomenon in our wise Shari'ah? And is it permissible to walk in slippers or shoes between the graves, knowing that
the graves are open trenches and not side chambers? And is it permissible to follow a funeral procession in which innovations are performed, such as raising the grave more than three cubits or more? And if a child dies in the womb of its mother, being approximately eight months old, is it prayed over, washed, and treated as the deceased is treated?

A : The Sunnah is to stand at the grave of a Muslim after the completion of his burial, to seek forgiveness for him, and to ask for steadfastness for him at the time of questioning, as the authentic Sunnah has come from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). It is not permissible to follow a funeral procession in which innovations are performed, unless one is able to remove the evil or forbid it. If the fetus has reached four months or more, it is washed, shrouded, prayed over, and buried in the cemetery. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
