Raising the markers of the grave above the height of the arm

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa number ( 20844 )
Q 1: What is the ruling on raising the markers of the grave above the height of the arm, and is there a specific limit to their height? The markers are the stones placed as a sign at the head and feet. Please advise us, may Allah reward you?
A 1 : Marking the grave with stones or the like to identify it for visiting and offering the greeting is permissible, whether at the head or the feet, as this is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who marked the grave of Uthman ibn Maz'un with a stone. It is not part of the Sunnah to go to lengths in placing markers or to exaggerate in raising the markers, and one must be cautious of this. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
