The fourth question of Fatwa number ( 19772 )
Q 4: Is it permissible to raise the hands after burying the deceased and reciting Surat al-Fatihah, or is there a supplication from the Book and the Sunnah? Please issue a ruling, may Allah reward you.
May Allah reward you with good.
A 4 : What is prescribed after burying the deceased is to stand at his grave and supplicate for him for forgiveness and steadfastness. This is to be done without collective vocalization; rather, each Muslim supplicates individually. As for reciting al-Fatihah or other parts of the Qur'an at the grave, that is a religious innovation (bid'ah) and is not permissible to do. This is based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih Muslim 1718b . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
