Trimming Eyebrow Hair
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 16406 )
Q 1: What is the ruling on trimming eyebrow hair , especially for a woman who wants to adorn herself for her husband or fiancé, whether he asks her to do so or no one asks, but she wants to adorn herself, especially if the eyebrow is wide, its color is dark black, and its hair is long and thick, and the two eyebrows almost meet?
A 1: It is not permissible for a woman to remove eyebrow hair, whether by cutting, plucking, or shaving; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: . The *namisah* is the one who removes her eyebrow hair, and the *mutanammisah* is the one who asks another to remove her eyebrow hair. Plucking eyebrows is not part of adornment, but rather it is disfigurement and altering Allah’s creation. If her husband orders her to do so, it is not permissible for her to obey him; because that is disobedience, and there is no obedience to a created being in disobedience to
the Creator. It is obligatory for husbands to fear Allah and not order their wives to disobey Allah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
