Q: What is the ruling on using certain chemical substances or medications to lengthen the beard or prevent its hair from falling out? There are many brothers whose beards are falling out, or whose beards have not yet grown in certain parts, or who use these medications to grow a beard for the first time. Is this permissible or not? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
A: It is permissible to take treatment that prevents the beard hair from falling out. However, taking it to lengthen the beard is not prescribed, because it is an act of artificiality for which Allah has not sent down any authority. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
