Q: It is reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: " Whoever misses a prayer in his lifetime and does not keep count of it let him stand in the last Friday of Ramadan, and let him pray four rak'ahs with one tashahhud, reciting in each rak'ah the opening of the Book and Surat al-Qadr fifteen times, and Surat al-Kawthar likewise, and saying in the intention: I intend to pray four rak'ahs as expiation for the prayers I missed." He said: Abu Bakr said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "It is an expiation for four hundred years." Until he said: Ali (may Allah honor his face): It is an expiation for a thousand years. For whom is the extra prayer? He said: It is for his parents, his wife, and his children, then his relatives and the people of the town. When he finishes the prayer, he sends blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) one hundred times in whatever form, then he supplicates with this supplication three times: (O Allah, O One whose obedience does not benefit You and whose disobedience does not harm You, accept from me what does not benefit You, and forgive me what does not harm You. O One who, when He promises, He fulfills, and when He threatens, He overlooks and forgives, forgive
the servant who wronged himself. And I ask You, O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the arrogance of wealth and the hardship of poverty. My Lord, You created me when I was nothing, and You provided for me when I was nothing, and I committed sins, so I acknowledge my sins to You. If You forgive me, nothing is diminished from Your dominion, and if You punish me, nothing is added to Your authority. My Lord, You find someone other than me to punish, and I find no one to have mercy on me other than You. Forgive what is between me and You, and forgive what is between me and the people. O Most Merciful of the merciful, O Hope of the supplicants, O Security of the fearful, have mercy on me with Your vast mercy. You are the Most Merciful of the merciful, O Lord of the worlds. O Allah, forgive the believing men and women, and the Muslim men and women, and follow between us and them with good. O Lord, forgive and have mercy, and You are the best of the merciful. And may Allah send blessings upon our master Muhammad, and upon his family and all his companions).
A: This hadith is a fabricated and invented hadith, and it is not in any of the recognized books of hadith. As for one who misses a prayer, it is obligatory for him to hasten to make it up when he remembers it; because it is established that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: . As for the prayer mentioned in which Surat al-Qadr and Surat al-Kawthar are repeated fifteen times - it is an innovated prayer that contradicts the prescribed prayer.
This, and the supplication recited after that prayer contains some inappropriate phrases, such as: "My Lord, You find someone other than me to punish," and such as: "O Security of the fearful." Based on this, that mentioned prayer is not permissible; because it is an innovated prayer. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and his family and his companions.
