Hanging Amulets on Cars

Muhammad
Indeed, he who associates others with Allah - Allah has forbidden him Paradise, and his refuge is the Fire. And there are not for the wrongdoers any helpers.
[Al-Ma'idah 5:72]

Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly gone far astray.
[An-Nisa 4:116]

Ahmad
'Uqbah ibn 'Amir al-Juhani
That the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to a group of men, so he took the pledge of allegiance from nine and held back from one. It was said to him: O Messenger of Allah, you took the pledge from nine and left this one? He said: He has an amulet. So he put in his hand and cut it, then he took his pledge, and he said: Whoever hangs an amulet has committed shirk (associating partners with Allah).

The Imam al-Tahawi al-Hanafi said: (That, in our view—and Allah knows best—is what is hung before the calamity descends to ward it off, and that is something no one but Allah—Mighty and Majestic—can do, so He prohibited it because it is shirk (associating partners with Allah))
And al-Zayla'i al-Hanafi said: An amulet is a string tied around the neck or the hand in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance to ward off harm from themselves, as they claimed, and it is prohibited.
And al-Khadimi al-Hanafi said: (This hadith is cited as evidence to prevent people from hanging amulets, strings, beads, and other things of various kinds on their children, which they believe will benefit them or ward off the evil eye and the touch of Satan. It contains a type of shirk (associating partners with Allah), may Allah the Exalted protect us from it, for benefit and harm are in the hand of Allah, not in the hand of anyone else).

And if Allah should touch you with adversity, there is no remover of it except Him; and if He intends for you good, then there is no repeller of His bounty. He causes it to reach whom He wills of His servants. And He is the Forgiving, the Mercifulوَإِنْ يَمْسَسْكَ اللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ فَلاَ كَاشِفَ لَهُ إِلاَّ هُوَ وَإِنْ يُرِدْكَ بِخَيْرٍ فَلاَ رَادَّ لِفَضْلِهِ يُصِيبُ بِهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
