The Prophet's Prayer for the Two Festivals

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 14089 )
Q: How did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) perform the prayer for the two festivals?
A: The prayer for the two festivals consists of two rak'ahs before the khutbah. He begins the first rak'ah with the takbir, then says six additional takbirs after the takbir of ihram, then recites al-Fatihah aloud, and a surah. Then he says the takbir and bows. After rising from the second prostration, he says the takbir for standing and then five additional takbirs. Then he recites al-Fatihah and a surah from the Qur'an aloud. After the taslim, he delivers two khutbahs in which he reminds the people and admonishes them. In the khutbah for 'Id al-Fitr, he urges them to give sadaqah and explains its rulings. In 'Id al-Adha, he explains to them the ruling of the udhiyah and its virtue. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
