The traveler who intends to stay in a country for more than four days
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 19604 )
Q 1: I am a military man, and due to my work, I move from place to place. I have moved to one of the islands with 8 individuals, and there is a mosque without a salaried imam. Is the Friday prayer obligatory for us? Knowing that the island is far from our country, and we stay there for approximately a month.
A 1: The majority of scholars—and this is the stronger position—held that if a traveler intends to stay in a country for more than four days, he does not avail himself of the dispensations of travel. Based on this, your staying for a month in the other country does not exempt you from attending the Friday prayer with the residents, as it is obligatory for you following the obligation of others. However, you do not establish it yourselves independently. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
