Q: We see many people, praying in light clothing that reveals the skin , and wearing short trousers underneath these clothes that do not extend past the middle of the thigh, so that the middle of the thigh is visible through the garment. What is the ruling on the prayer of these people?
A: If the situation is as described, then the prayer of these people is not valid, because it is a condition for the validity of prayer to cover the 'awrah (the part of the body that must be covered), which for a man is the area between the navel and the knee. The covering must be thick enough to hide the color of the skin behind it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
