The Honorable Shaykh. . . It is the time of summer, and many people wear light and short trousers

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward the honorableThe Shaykh : It is the time of summer, and many people wear light and short trousers. What is the ruling on the prayer of these people if the garment worn is transparent or reveals the awrah (part of the body that must be covered)? May Allah guide you and keep you steadfast? And he suggests a proposal, which is: O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : He says: He suggests that the topic for the monthly meeting be: Clothing and its rulings for men and women, since this topic is important.

The Shaykh : Yes, very well, may Allah reward him with good. I say: One of the conditions for the validity of the prayer is that a man covers what is between the navel and the knee with a thick covering, through which the color of the skin is not visible. What the questioner mentioned exists, meaning: some people wear transparent clothes and have on them only short trousers that cover only the upper half of the thigh, leaving the lower half of the thigh exposed, visible, and you know that what is underneath is red, black, or brown skin. This does not cover the awrah (part of the body that must be covered), and the prayer with it is not valid. Therefore, a person must be cautious in this matter and advise his brothers who are negligent in it, because this is not a trivial matter. But I ask you: If a person has an izar (a lower garment), a thick izar, and he prays and has on him only a thin undershirt, is his prayer valid or not? Yes? His prayer is valid. In fact, even if he did not have an undershirt, his prayer would be valid, because the important thing is to cover what is between the navel and the knee. Yes.
