The remaining funds from the mosque renovation
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 18682 )
Q: I collected donations to build a mosque for the village, and the main structure of the mosque was completed. Some of the village’s generous people donated to complete the finishing work because the amount remaining with me was not sufficient for that, and I still have the remaining donations. - Is it permissible to spend the remaining donations on fencing the Eid prayer area and the cemetery in the village? - Is it permissible to spend the surplus on purchasing air conditioners and carpets for the other mosques in the village?
Is it permissible to spend the surplus on helping the newly married, the poor, and the needy in the village, with the intention that the reward belongs to the donors? It is known that the donors are from the village and from outside it.
A: It is permissible for you to spend the remaining money you have from the renovation of the mosque you supervised on the renovation of another mosque, provided that the first mosque does not need it. It is not permissible for you to spend the mentioned amount on anything other than building mosques, because that would be spending it in a manner other than the purpose for which its owner donated it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
