The third question of Fatwa No. ( 19042 )
Q 3: Is this hadith authentic, and what is its ultimate purpose (the maximum)? 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated from his father that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: " A time will come upon the people in which most of them will have the faces of human beings, but their hearts will be the hearts of wild wolves, spilling blood, showing no regard for
what they do. If you make a pact with them, they will break it; if you speak to them, they will lie to you; if you trust them, they will betray you; if you hide from them, they will backbite you. Their children are violent, their youth are cunning, and their elders are wicked. They do not enjoin what is right nor forbid what is wrong. Mixing with them is humiliation, and seeking what is in their hands is poverty. The patient among them is a deviant, and the deviant among them is patient. The Sunnah among them is an innovation, and the innovation among them is the Sunnah. The one who enjoins good and forbids evil among them is suspected, the open sinner among them is honored, and the believer among them is oppressed. When they do this, Allah will set over them a people who, if they speak, will kill them, and if they remain silent, will treat them as lawful prey. They will monopolize their wealth and be unjust to them in their judgments."?
A 3: It is not permissible to attribute this hadith to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Al-Hafiz al-Suyuti mentioned it in (Al-La'ali al-Masnu'ah fi al-Ahadith al-Mawdu'ah 2/385). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
