Q: The story of the millstone of the Lady Fatimah al-Zahra (may Allah be pleased with her). It is narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered upon his daughter Fatimah al-Zahra (may Allah be pleased with her) and found her grinding barley while weeping. He said to her: What makes you cry, O Fatimah ? She said: O my father, it is the worry of grinding the flour and the needs of the household. If you had asked Imam 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) to buy a slave girl for her, she would have gained a great reward. He said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard her words, his heart softened for her, and his eyes overflowed with tears. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) sat by the millstone and took a handful of barley in his blessed hand and said: In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy. And he began to put it into the millstone, and it turned. He found it glorifying Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) with an eloquent tongue and a pleasant voice. He continued thus until the grinding was finished. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Be silent, O millstone. So Allah, who gave speech to everything, gave it speech, and it said to him: By Him who sent you with the truth, I will not be silent until you guarantee for me from Allah Paradise and safety from the Fire.
So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You are a stone, and you fear the Fire? She said: O Messenger of Allah, I heard in the great Qur'an
O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allah in what He commands them but do what they are commanded.
[At-Tahrim 66:6]
So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made supplication for her. When he finished the supplication, the Trustworthy One, Jibril (peace be upon him), descended and said: O Muhammad, the Lord (Glorified and Exalted is He) sends you his greeting and singles you out for honor and respect, and He says to you: Give good news to this stone that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has freed it from the Fire and made it one of the stones of Paradise in the palace of Fatimah al-Zahra , its light like the light of the sun in this world. He said: So he gave it good news, then he turned to Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) and said to her: O Fatimah , if Allah had willed, the millstone would have ground by itself every day, but Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) writes for you good deeds and raises your ranks in your enduring of hardship. O Fatimah , no woman sweats while baking bread except that Allah places between her and the Fire seven trenches, the distance between each trench being like the distance between the sky and the earth. O Fatimah , no woman cuts onions for food and her eyes water except that Allah writes for her the reward of those who weep out of fear of Allah the Exalted. O Fatimah , no woman spins with her hands except that Allah writes for her a good deed for every thread
and erases a bad deed from her. O Fatimah , no woman finishes her spinning except that she will have a humming sound beneath the Throne on the Day of Resurrection. O Fatimah, no woman spins and clothes her children and dependents except that Allah writes for her the reward of one who fed a thousand hungry people and clothed a thousand naked people. O Fatimah, no woman oils the heads of her children, combs their hair, washes their clothes, and improves their appearance except that Allah writes for her a good deed for every hair, erases a bad deed for every hair, and adorns her in the eyes of onlookers. O Fatimah , no woman shares her needs with her neighbors except that Allah grants her the pleasure of drinking from the water of al-Kawthar on the Day of Resurrection. O Fatimah , five things are not to be withheld: water, fire, barley, the millstone, and needles, and each of them has a good deed. O Fatimah , whoever withholds water, Allah tests him with enmity between him and his family, and whoever withholds the millstone, Allah tests him with illness. O Fatimah , the best of deeds in the sight of Allah the Exalted is the satisfaction of your husband with you. O Fatimah , whoever is satisfied by her husband and dies while he is satisfied with her, Allah writes for her a good deed for every hair on her body, and she will not leave this world until she sees her place in Paradise, and her soul will not leave her body until her Lord is satisfied with her. O Fatimah , no woman dies while obedient to her husband except that a thousand good deeds are written for her. O Fatimah , no woman without a husband is like a tree without fruit. O Fatimah , when a man looks at the face of his wife, Allah writes for him a hundred good deeds, and if he has intercourse with her, Allah writes for him a good deed for every hair on her body, and if he bathes from
major ritual impurity, Allah the Exalted creates from every drop an angel who glorifies Allah the Exalted and seeks forgiveness for him until the Day of Resurrection, and he has their reward. O Fatimah , when a woman becomes pregnant, the angels in the sky and the fish in the water seek forgiveness for her, and Allah writes for her a thousand good deeds and erases a thousand bad deeds every day of her pregnancy, with the reward of those who strive in the path of Allah the Exalted. When she gives birth, she comes out of her sins as on the day her mother gave birth to her, and Allah writes for her the reward of seventy accepted pilgrimages. When she breastfeeds her child, Allah writes for her a good deed for every drop of milk and forgives a bad deed, and the houris in the Gardens of Pleasure seek forgiveness for her. O Fatimah , no woman frowns at her husband except that Allah becomes angry with her, and the angels and all people become angry with her. If she withholds the bed from him, everything wet and dry curses her. O Fatimah , no woman says to her husband: "Woe to you" except that Allah the Exalted, the angels, and all people curse her. O Fatimah , no woman reduces her mahr for her husband except that Allah writes for her a palace in Paradise for every dirham. O Fatimah, no woman is angry with her husband and does not appease him until he is satisfied except that she is in the anger and wrath of Allah. O Fatimah , no woman puts on her clothes, adorns herself, and leaves her house without her husband's permission except that everything wet and dry curses her until she returns to her house. And no woman looks at her husband and does not smile at him except that Allah, the angels, and all people become angry with her. O Fatimah , no woman exposes her face to other than her husband except that
Allah throws her face-first into the Fire. O Fatimah , no woman brings into the house what her husband dislikes except that Allah sends upon her seventy scorpions from the scorpions of Hell that sting her on the Day of Resurrection. O Fatimah , no woman fasts without her husband's permission except that her fast is returned to her and not accepted from her, neither in full nor in part. O Fatimah , no woman steals from her husband's house except that Allah writes upon her the burden of seventy thefts. And Allah knows best. Question: I found this story in a small booklet when I was young, and I do not know the extent of the authenticity of this hadith, and whether it was truly reported in this form or if it is merely a moral lesson. Please inform us, may Allah reward you.

A: This hadith is fabricated and falsely attributed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and it has no basis in authenticity, and it was not narrated by the recognized scholars. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
