Respect for the Noble Qur'an

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 21889 )
Q: We hope you will clarify what is obligatory regarding the Noble Mushaf and its respect, and the ruling on extending one's legs toward the Mushaf in the mosque and outside the mosque, in all circumstances.
A: It is obligatory to respect the Noble Mushaf, and it is forbidden to do anything that constitutes disrespect to it; such as entering the toilet with it, placing it in an impure place, using it as a pillow, extending one's legs toward it, writing something from it in filthy, disrespectful places or hanging it there, writing it on newspapers that are disrespected, traveling with it to enemy lands, and allowing a disbeliever to have access to it. If some of the Mushafs become worn out, they should be burned or buried in a pure place. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
