Q 2: What is the meaning of the word (all) in the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Ahqaf 46:25]?
A 2: The meaning of the word (all) in the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Ahqaf 46:25] is everything that Allah commanded to be destroyed from the people of 'Ad when they transgressed against the command of their Lord. Ibn Jarir al-Tabari said in (his Tafsir, vol. 22, p. 29): Allah the Exalted says: It ruins everything and casts some of it upon some, thereby destroying it. And what is meant by the saying: it destroys everything, is that which it was sent to destroy; for it did not destroy Hud and those who believed with him. And Ibn Kathir said in (his Tafsir, vol. 4, p. 160): [Al-Ahqaf 46:25]
Meaning: It ruins everything of their lands that is subject to ruin. Al-Qurtubi said in (his Tafsir, vol. 8, p. 206):[Al-Ahqaf 46:25] Meaning: Everything it passed over from the men of 'Ad and their wealth. Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Meaning: Everything it was sent to.
