Q: We are submitting to your Excellency a paper presented by one of the brothers fromSudanasking about the ruling on distributing it and hanging it in gatherings. It is mentioned that it is distributed, and its distributors claim that it protects a person from the jinn and safeguards him from diseases, and they assert that it is dictated by the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). We hope your Excellency will review it and inform the Muslims of your view regarding it, as we also request a copy of your opinion. May Allah benefit you and thank you for it. The following appeared in this paper: In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate. This is a letter from Muhammad, the Messenger of the Lord of the Worlds, to whoever knocks on the door from among the residents, visitors, and the righteous, except a knocker who knocks with good, O Merciful.. As for what follows: Indeed, there is ample room for us and for you in the truth. If you are a passionate lover or a sinner who transgresses, or a shepherd who is right but invalidates [the truth], this is the Book of Allah which speaks to us with the truth.. We used to copy what you used to do, and our messengers write down what you used to plot.. Leave the owner of this letter of mine and go to the worshippers of idols and to those who claim a god other than Allah.. There is no god but He[Al-Qasas 28:88], you will be overcome (Ha-Mim) you will not be helped, the enemies of Allah will be scattered and the argument of Allah will be established, and there is no power nor strength except with Allah[Al-Baqarah 2:137] .

It is among the lies and superstitions of sorcerers and false messiahs to seize the minds of the common and simple people and occupy them away from the matters of their religion. Hanging this leaflet in homes, gatherings, and elsewhere, and believing that it protects a person from jinn and guards him against diseases—all of that is false and a superstition. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

كُلُّ شَيْءٍ هَالِكٌ إِلا وَجْهَهُ لَهُ الْحُكْمُ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَHa-Mim (1) 'Ain-Sin-Qaf
