Q: Attached below is a sheet written with a (supplication), and some people are distributing it. I hope you will look into what it contains and inform us of its validity or invalidity. May Allah preserve you. In the name of Allah, our door; Blessed are our walls; Ya Sin, our ceiling; Kaf Ha Ya 'Ayn Sad, our sufficiency; Ha Mim 'Ayn Sad Qaf, our protection... May Allah suffice you against them, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing. The covering of the Throne is spread over us, and the eye of Allah is looking at us. By the might of Allah, no one can overpower us. And Allah is encompassing of them. Nay, it is a glorious Qur'an. So Allah is the best of guardians, and He is the Most Merciful of the merciful. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Say: He is Allah, the One. There is none like Him. Do not let anyone have power over us, and do not make us in need of anyone. And enrich us by Allah against everyone, by the virtue of "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Say: He is Allah, the One." O Allah, suffice me against what concerns me of the matters of this world and the religion.
Glory be to the Eternal, the Everlasting. Glory be to the One, the Unique. Glory be to the Single, the Self-Sufficient. Glory be to He who took no wife nor son. Glory be to He who raised the sky without pillars. Glory be to He who spread the earth upon water and it solidified. Glory be to He who created the creation and counted them in number. Glory be to He who divided the sustenance and forgot no one. Glory be to He who did not beget nor was begotten, and there is none comparable to Him. Do not make us in need of anyone, and do not let anyone have power over us, by the virtue of "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Say: He is Allah, the One."
A: The aforementioned supplication is not prescribed in this form, and it has no basis, nor should one supplicate with it, as there is no evidence for it in the Book of Allah or the Sunnah of His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). It also contains some matters that are contrary to the creed, such as its saying: "In the name of Allah, our door; Blessed are our walls; Ya Sin, our ceiling; Kaf Ha Ya 'Ayn Sad, our sufficiency; Ha Mim 'Ayn Sad Qaf, our protection... The covering of the Throne is spread over us." One should supplicate with prescribed supplications derived from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), such as those mentioned by the scholars of the Salaf in their books, like the book (Al-Adhkar) by al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him), (Al-Wabil al-Sayyib) by Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him), and the book (Tuhfat al-Akhyar) by His Eminence Shaykh 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Baz (may Allah preserve him). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.
