The second question of Fatwa No. ( 10511 )
Q 2: I ask about a hadith I found which says: From al-Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him), he said: It reached me that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If this hadith is authentic, what is the action that turns a Muslim into a disbeliever, and what is the way out of that? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.
A 2: Muslim narrated in (his Sahih) and al-Tirmidhi in (al-Sunan) from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih Muslim 118 And al-Tirmidhi said: This is a good, authentic hadith.
The scholars mentioned this hadith in the chapters on trials (fitan), which are the differences, chaos, killing, and the making lawful of what Allah and His Messenger have forbidden that occur in this community. The meaning of his saying:Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 48:65 to his saying: Sahih Muslim 118 is what was explained by al-Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him), as in al-Tirmidhi , who said: A man becomes one for whom the blood, honor, and wealth of his brother are forbidden in the morning, and he becomes one who makes them lawful in the evening; and he becomes one for whom the blood, honor, and wealth of his brother are forbidden in the evening, and he becomes one who makes them lawful in the morning. The way out of the trials is: seeking refuge in Allah and avoiding all the warring factions, by staying in his house or moving to another place with his sheep if he has sheep, or to his farm if he has a farm. And al-Bukhari narrated through his chain from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih al-Bukhari 19 . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
Q 2: I ask about a hadith I found which says: From al-Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him), he said: It reached me that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Indeed, before the Hour there will be trials like the pieces of the dark night, in which a man's heart will die as his body dies, and a man will be a believer in the morning and a disbeliever in the evening, and a disbeliever in the evening and a believer in the morning, and some people will sell their religion for a small portion of worldly life.
A 2: Muslim narrated in (his Sahih) and al-Tirmidhi in (al-Sunan) from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Be prompt in doing good deeds (before you are overtaken) by turbulence which would be like a part of the dark night. During (that stormy period) a man would be a Muslim in the morning and an unbeliever in the evening or he would be a believer in the evening and an unbeliever in the morning, and would sell his faith for worldly goods.
بادروا بالأعمال فتنًا كقطع الليل المظلم، يصبح الرجل مؤمنًا ويمسي كافرًا، أو يمسي مؤمنًا ويصبح كافرًا، يبيع دينه بعرض من الدنياThe scholars mentioned this hadith in the chapters on trials (fitan), which are the differences, chaos, killing, and the making lawful of what Allah and His Messenger have forbidden that occur in this community. The meaning of his saying:
He will be a believer in the morning and a disbeliever in the evening.
يصبح مؤمنًا ويمسي كافرًاand would sell his faith for worldly goods
يبيع دينه بعرض من الدنياA time will soon come when the best property of a Muslim will be sheep which he will take on the top of mountains and the places of rainfall (valleys) so as to flee with his religion from afflictions.
يوشك أن يكون خير مال المسلم غنم يتتبع بها شعف الجبال ومواقع القطر، يفر بدينه من الفتن
