Q: I have come across a booklet titled: (The Book of the Comprehensive Prayers with the Names of the Most Noble of the Living), prepared and arranged by: Ahmad Jumhuri al-Bangali , and a copy is attached for you. This booklet has been approved by the Ministry of Information with number (623 \ 2 \ M) and date 16 \ 4 \ 1419 AH, and is distributed for free at the Rawabi al-Hijaz restaurant in Makkah al-Mukarramah . Its compiler stated that he met a person during one of his travels who sends prayers upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) twelve thousand times a day and night, and for that reason, the compiler of the booklet intended, as he stated, to pair the names of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he had collected with prayers and peace upon him - so he claimed -. Then, the compiler of the booklet composed a strange poem, claiming that it contains the names of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he mentioned a large number of names that he attributed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for which there is no established evidence, such as: (The Path of Allah. The Remembrance of Allah. The Party of Allah. The Lamp. The Mighty. The Strong. The Known. The Shelter. The Dominant. The Agent. The Possessor of Strength. The Possessor of Sanctity. He Who Has Told the Truth. The Driver. The Piercing Star. The Owner of the Staff. The Firm Knot. The Key to Paradise. Distinguished with Honor) and other strange names that require review and consideration, and if
you see fit - may Allah preserve you - to address the authority that approved the book regarding the non-approval of such books, and especially books of tafsir and creed, unless they are referred to the great scholars or the Department of Ifta; out of fear of duplication in publishing books and incorrect information. And Allah is the Helper.
A: It is not permissible to act upon what is in the aforementioned booklet, nor is it permissible to print or publish it; because it contains many names that are not validly attributed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and these are an exaggeration in the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) which is prohibited by the Shari'ah, and because the dhikr and awrad composed in the form of poems and verses are among the matters that have been innovated, and it is not permissible to recite dhikr with them, and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
